Exceeding the expectations of Buffalo drivers is something at which the Buick Enclave excels and exceeding expectations of Buffalo Buick shoppers is where West Herr Buick excels.
With a baby on board and another on the way, Rick and Heather Suchocki of Surprise, Ariz., needed a new family hauler, one with enough room for strollers, playpens, diaper bags and the other necessities of a growing family. They decided the Lexus in their driveway wasn’t cutting it anymore, and started shopping crossover utilities including luxury imports and – much to their own surprise – the 2011 Buick Enclave.
“I’d never thought about shopping Buick before, because I’d never pictured myself in their older models,” said Rick, a 41-year-old grocery store manager. “But the Enclave is designed for my generation. It has great styling and ride quality. It’s very quiet, luxurious and roomier than the other crossovers we shopped. We couldn’t get our baby seat into the back seat of the Lexus RX350, but it fit perfectly in the Enclave. It’s lived up to our expectations, and then some.”
The luxury crossover enjoyed its strongest sales in history in 2010, with total sales up 28 percent, and retail sales nearly double what they were in its first year on the market. After having its best retail month ever in December, Enclave’s retail sales grew in January by 37 percent compared to the same month in 2010, according to Buffalo Buick dealer West Herr Buick.
“As a contemporary people mover, Enclave has a high level of luxury appointments and is, at a glance, very upscale,” said George Peterson, president of AutoPacific, a marketing research and consultancy firm. “The fact that Enclave’s retail sales are so robust is testament to the appeal of the product itself and Buick as a brand as well. As the economy continues to improve, prospects for the Enclave do as well.”
Enclave has the highest “conquest” rate of any Buick, with 51 percent coming from non-GM brands, approximately half of which are import brands.
“Enclave has brought a new kind of customer to our showroom – young professionals with families who previously owned an Acura or Lexus,” said Tim Fitzgerald, general manager, Bowser Buick GMC of Pleasant Hills, Pa. “They have very high expectations for styling, interior amenities and quality materials, and they’re finding out that the Enclave delivers in all of those respects and more.”
One of the hallmarks of interior quality is quietness, and Enclave is the only crossover in its segment that benefits from QuietTuning, a Buick-exclusive engineering process that reduces, blocks and absorbs unwanted noise from entering the vehicle’s cabin. Noise-reducing components include an acoustic-laminated windshield, laminated safety glass for front doors, triple-door seals, flat-blade windshield wipers, and aerodynamic rearview mirrors for Buffalo families.
Among Enclave’s many interior amenities are three rows of seats that accommodate up to eight passengers, offering more space than the Mercedes R-class or Acura MDX. Enclave’s second-row seats feature General Motors’ Smart Slide system, a feature that allows easy entry to the third row with the pull of one handle. With Smart Slide, the second-row seat cushion flips up while the seatback slides forward, providing more room for passengers to enter and exit the third row.
Enclave’s smooth car-like driving experience is attributed to its stiff structure, its purpose-built suspension and aerodynamic shape, the latter of which contributes to Enclave’s 24 mpg highway (2WD), which is better fuel economy than any non-GM eight-passenger crossover.
“Buick has come a long way,” said Lori Ashmore Peters, an attorney and mother of two in Dallas, who recently traded in an SUV for an Enclave. “Honestly, I had some reservations about buying a Buick at first, but the Enclave’s ride, handling, styling and amenities sold me on it. I would definitely consider Buick again.”

Buffalo Buick dealer, West Herr Buick Cadillac GMC, has announced special opportunities to lease the 2011 Buick Enclave with payments starting as low as $399 per month for a 39-month lease.
The Buick Enclave combines the smooth ride and responsive handling of a car with the cargo capability and high seating position of a traditional truck-based sport utility vehicle. Available in two trims for Buffalo Buick shoppers, the CX and the CXL, the Enclave is loved for its contemporary design and trademark styling cues associated with Buicks of the past.
Both trims are available with a front-wheel drive (FWD) or an all-wheel drive (AWD) configuration as well as second and third row seating.
Enclave’s fluid lines and curved surfaces create the illusion of a smaller vehicle, while maintaining a roomy interior. Other Buick design cues include a waterfall grille, V-shaped portholes and high-intensity discharge (HID) headlamps. For enhanced illumination, especially while cornering, Enclave offers available articulating headlamps.
The 2011 Buick Enclave’s interior complements the handsome exterior with a warm and inviting environment. The premium attention to detail is reflected in the precise fit and finish of all interior elements, including the instrument panel. With three rows of seats, Enclave comfortably accommodates seven or eight occupants, and still provides 24.1 cu. ft. of cargo space behind the third-row seat when the cargo management is removed. That’s the trunk capacity of some large sedans and room that many crossovers cannot match.
Enclave’s second-row seats feature GM’s Smart Slide system, a popular feature with Buffalo Buick shoppers that allows easy entry to the third row with the pull of one handle. With Smart Slide, the second-row seat cushion flips up while the seatback slides forward, compressing the space occupied by the seat. When adjusted rearward, the second-row seat provides more legroom for taller passengers; when adjusted forward, it provides more storage space or additional legroom for third-row passengers.
The 2011 Enclave is the only crossover in its segment equipped with QuietTuning, Buick’s exclusive engineering process to reduce, block and absorb unwanted noise from entering Enclave’s cabin. Noise-reducing components include an acoustic-laminated windshield, laminated safety glass for front doors, triple door seals, flat-blade windshield wipers, and outside rearview mirrors. In addition, strategically placed sound-deadening material is applied in more than two dozen locations throughout the vehicle.
The 2011 Buick Enclave has a comprehensive safety system designed to protect Buffalo Buick drivers and passengers before, during and after a crash. The 2010 Enclave achieved the top federal frontal crash rating of five stars for driver and front-seat passenger, and the top federal side-impact crash test score of five stars for rear occupants.
Safety-enhancing features include four-wheel anti-lock brakes, StabiliTrak electronic stability control system with rollover mitigation technology and GM’s tire pressure monitoring system are standard.
Buffalo Buick shoppers who would like to take advantage of special lease programs for the 2011 Enclave can do so by calling 716-652-2600.

West Herr Buick is inviting all Buffalo Buick enthusiasts to come to see the 2010 Buick Enclave, rated a Consumers Digest Best Buy.
In addition to rating the 2010 Buick LaCrosse a Best Buy Consumers Digest has also declared the 2010 Buick Enclave a top value vehicle for Buffalo Buick Drivers.
Factors taken into account included design such as: styling, interior ergonomics, seating, accessories and amenities, cargo space, and fit and finish. Performance characteristics considered were: starting and acceleration, shifting/transmission, steering and handling, braking, ride quality and fuel economy.
It was important to Consumer Digest to compare each vehicle with others in its general size and price class. In determining the top picks each year, they consider a range of additional variables: warranties, repair histories (as available), dealer reputation, estimated repair/maintenance costs, annual operating expenses, insurance-industry ratings, crash-test results, corporate service and manufacturing reputations, and estimated resale values.
In the process they draw on information from top sources such as National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. It was the combination of in-house testing, purchase and ownership costs, and the findings of independent sources that finally leads to the short list of Best Buys.
This premium-midsize SUV is a crossover that shares its basic design with the Chevrolet Traverse and GMC Acadia. Enclave comes in base CX, mid-level CXL-1, and top-line CXL-2 trim levels. The sole powertrain teams a 288-horsepower 3.6-liter V6 engine with a 6-speed automatic transmission. Maximum towing capacity is 4,500 pounds. Front-wheel drive or all-wheel drive is available on all models. Standard seating is for 7, with 2nd-row bucket seats and a 3rd-row bench. A 2nd-row, three-person bench is available. General Motors’ Smart Slide 2nd-row seats have flip-forward bottom cushions and sliding backrests. They’re designed to allow easier access to the 3rd row and are standard.
Available safety features include ABS, traction control, antiskid system, curtain-side airbags that cover all seating rows, and front-side airbags. Bi-xenon headlamps are standard. DVD entertainment is available, along with a navigation system with real-time traffic updates and heated and cooled front seats. A rearview camera is also available.
The 2011 Buick Enclave ranks 1 out of 24 Affordable Midsize SUVs. This ranking is based on our analysis of 52 published reviews and test drives of the Buick Enclave, and our analysis of reliability and safety data.
The Enclave features one of the most luxurious and quiet interiors in its class. That, plus seating for seven makes it a practical family hauler.
“This crossover builds on the strengths of its more mainstream cousins by offering tangible upgrades in luxury and style,” explains Consumer Guide.
